Choose Clean Air 5K Walk/Run

What: Choose Clean Air 5K Walk/Run, sponsored by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Utah Asthma Task Force, and Sandy City Parks and Recreation

When: Saturday, April 29, 2006

Walk/run begins at 10 a.m.; check-in begins at 9 a.m.

Where: Walk/run begins and ends at Hidden Valley Park in Sandy, 11600 S. Wasatch Drive.

Why: This summer, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality will again be encouraging residents along the Wasatch Front to “Choose Clean Air” by reducing the number of short trips they take by car and truck and instead try walking, biking, or carpooling to get around their communities. The goal is to reduce summer smog. The walk/run will be an opportunity for you to see how relaxing and healthful it can be to get out and walk or run. Information on preventing air pollution and making healthy choices will be available.

Cost: The cost to participate is $10 per person or $6 per person for a family of three or more if you register before April 21. After April 21, the cost is $15 per person. No family discount.

For You: A free event T-shirt will be given to those who register before April 21.

After April 21, please register in person at Sandy City Parks and Recreation or until 15 minutes before the walk/run at Hidden Valley Park.
