Pollution Prevention at Home

At Home is where we are first challenged to instill the pollution prevention ethic, which makes a difference in how we perceive our planet and protect our environment for generations to come -- if not our own!

We set the tone for an environmentally friendly lifestyle - "Living Green" - and, by example, introduce our family and friends to the personal and collective rewards of prudent stewardship of our earth's finite resources.

Winter inversions and summer smog can be reduced significantly if we all work together to observe no-burn days, drive less, tune our cars and carpool with coworkers. Reduce energy consumption around the house by turning off lights when no one is in the room, reducing the heat level during work hours and opening windows as opposed to using air conditioning.

Household chemicals, paints, solvents, cleaners and batteries constitute household hazardous waste - a significant source of pollution. Be conscious of how you dispose of this type of waste. Recycle or share these products with your neighbors. Contact your local landfill for specific information regarding proper disposal.

Conserve water inside your home and in your yard because using water also pollutes it.

These measures will preserve resources and save you money!
