Public Meeting in progress. The mission of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is to safeguard human health and quality of life by protecting and enhancing the environment.

We achieve our mission primarily by regulating businesses through the use of permits. Many of the business permitting processes are open to public participation, with some having specific requirements for public access.

We strive to be as open and transparent as possible and encourage the public to attend public hearings, comment on proposed actions, report pollution, and request records as necessary.

Use the links below to learn more about participating. If you have questions feel free to contact us anytime at 801-536-4480 or 1-800-458-0145 or by e-mail.
