Overview

 

In 2006, Clean Utah Partners reported the following accomplishments:

• Recycled 4387.7 tons of materials
• Saved 648,000 gallons of water
• Saved 6,448,957 cubic feet of natural gas of natural gas
• Used 29,130 gallons of natural gas  instead of gasoline
• Kept the following pollutants out of the air (excluding calculations for natural gas): 29 pounds of PM; 2 pounds of SOx, 192 pounds of NOx, 21 pounds of VOC  and 323 pounds of CO.

Reduce solid waste going to the landfill by 5%, measured in pounds per equivalent piece of furniture produced.

Hexcel Goals

 

Reduce plant-wide steam consumption by 10%.

Fully integrate plant-wide recycling program.

Recycle  2 million pounds	Recycled 3.85 million pounds
Implement methylene chlorine recycling in labs.

Reduce annual use of 100,000 pounds	Used 147,000

In December 2006, Hexcel finally received approval to use a non-hazard replacement solvent. The use of this replacement will cut methylene chlorine use by 40%. This goal was therefore carried forward into 2007.

Autoliv Goals

 

• Reduce solid waste going to the local landfill by recycling scrap cushion and fabrics.
  • Actual: 54,600 pounds. (In prior years, it would have all gone to the landfill)
• Reduce fuel emission and costs by converting the shuttle van from gasoline to natural gas.
  • Actual: Used 29,130 gallons of natural gas instead of gasoline.
