Uintah Basin: Air Quality and Energy Development

National and worldwide demands for energy in the form of oil and gas are driving up production of these resources in Utah and the Western United States. Utah is ranked 11th in the country in crude oil production and 9th in natural gas gross production. Oil and gas production and related activities provide much needed jobs for the Uintah Basin and other economic benefits for the state. Emissions from this type of development can have an adverse impact on air quality. It is important for human health, the environment, and continued oil and gas development to address and mitigate air quality issues in the Uintah Basin and other parts of rural Utah.
