Uintah Basin: Air Quality and Energy Development
Defining the Problem
Air monitoring of pollutants is the basis for understanding impacts on air quality from current oil and gas production. The map shows the location of air monitors relative to the concentration of production wells (purple dots). Using the data collected through monitoring, scientists can use air quality models to estimate the future impacts from reasonably expected oil and gas development. The following agencies are working together on projects that will characterize the impact of oil and gas development on air quality:
- Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- United States Forest Service Monitoring (USFS)
- Utah Division of Air Quality (UDAQ)
- Utah State University (USU)
